Make It Even Easier

You can make the entire process even easier on yourself by having:

1. The right passport –make sure your passport is valid and is an “E” passport so you do not have any issues getting your ESTA approval.
2. All your information and travel plans in front of you when you apply- when you are getting ready to file the application be sure that you have your passport and other information on hand.
3. File the ESTA early. The ESTA process is easy but you should leave yourself enough time to ensure that you have your approval in time to travel. You only need to fill out the ESTA once every 2 years.

Having all the information on hand in front of you will help you get the application in quickly and ensure that there are no errors on the application which can prevent you from getting the approval.

The ESTA program is an excellent way to lighten the burden on visitors while keeping everyone secure and safe during their travels to the US.

Who Can’t Use The ESTA?

Anyone that is coming from a country that is not on the list of approved countries will have to take the time to get a conventional visa. There are other restrictions as well:

According to the Department of State Consular Affairs the following will prevent you from using the ESTA:

• Nationals of VWP countries who have traveled to or been present in Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria on or after March 1, 2011 (with limited exceptions for travel for diplomatic or military purposes in the service of a VWP country).
• Nationals of VWP countries who are also nationals of Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria.
It is always best to be honest when submitting your application because if it is found out that you were not you really will be in a world of trouble.

Other Caveats

Travel has become a lot easier for citizens of participating countries but there are still some caveats that you need to be aware of:

➢ If you have been banned from travel for any reason at all, you will likely be denied authorization, you will not be able to board any mode of transport that is headed toward the US.
➢ If you are headed to Mexico or Canada with a stopover in the US and you have no intention of staying in the US you STILL will need an ESTA approval.
➢ If you hold a valid visitor visa to the US you will need to use it and not use the ESTA system.
➢ If you have certain communicable diseases like HIV you may not be granted entry into the USA.
